Tattoo Aftercare Introduction
Wash hand before remove the initial bandage applied by your artist as directed (usually within a few hours, a day or 4-5 days).
Wash your tattoo 1-2 times a day with lukewarm water and antibacterial soap, using clean hands. Gently pat it dry with a clean paper towel.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare ointment or lotion (fragrance-free) to keep the skin moisturized. Avoid over-moisturizing, which can impede healing.
Do not submerge your tattoo in water (baths, pools, etc.) for at least 3 weeks.
Don't pick or scratch at scabs or peeling skin, as this can cause scarring and ink loss.
Choose loose, breathable clothing that won't rub against the tattoo.
Signs of infection: redness and swelling after 24 hours, pus, foul smell from the tattoo area, red streaks on skin near tattoo area, fever, nausea, shivering.
